Well that’s all from us. We’ve completed our residency at Café Uno, and will be sad to leave the shed of funk and go back to work on Thursday. It was great to see so many faces coming night after night, and even better when they were dancing like eejits. We’d like to thank so many people for making our time here as good as it was.

Thanks go out to

The Café Uno team – your coffee, tea and cake was great, and the dancing was even better!

Sam, our sound engineer – for keeping us sounding as funky as possible and not letting us get too carried away with the volume levels. We look forward to working with you in the future (if we’re invited back for another year!)

The production team for keeping us laughing with tales of whipped nuggets, the use of their stores and for getting the stage built so quickly on the first day.

We’ve already mentioned it, but the catering for the teams is really second to none – thanks guys for your hours of prep work, cheese grating and what must be the world’s biggest pile of washing up.

So, that’s all from us. We’ll be back in the future, with more blogtastic blogs for you.

Last night was our best gig here at Soul Survivor Stafford. Not that we’re here to be arrogant, the crowd told us, they did the Love Train inside and outside of Café Uno. It was like a giant train-like conga!

The gig was almost postponed as we fell victim to prank after prank by the production crew. They decided that they’d had enough of our clothes-rail taking up valuable space in their stores, and decided to put their forklift to good use by hoisting it 20foot in the air while we were sound checking! Thanks guys, hope you enjoyed your cookies!

During our break we ran over to the main meeting venue and caught 10 minutes of onehundredhours. They were certainly up to their normal high standards. We caught up with Mark Prentice afterwards – who remembered us from when we supported them a few years back. It was good to see you again too, guys.

Some very weird things happened tonight. We played well, but not with much luck on the dancing front. We were defeated by the weather – it was really hot and sticky and people were tired after night after night of dancing, shouting and singing! The people who came to the Big Uno were played a different mix of funk and rock – something to sit and drink coffee to.

After the gig – we signed photos, albums and a shoe in the Toolshed. Goodness knows why the lad wanted his shoe signed, but thanks for giving us a laugh! You will always be our first shoe-signing, Josh…

We survived another night in a tent! Wooo!

We mixed things up a bit last night in Cafe Uno. We love our rock as much as the next man, but we decided to add a healthy dollop of funk into our set last night. Never Too Much was a real highlight for us: it really gets the people dancing!! We added a few of our rock classics to the mix though, with Mr Brightside making an appearance toward the end of the night.

Tonight, we’re mixing things up again. We’re adding instrumentals to the flavour of the bug Uno, with some unepected dancefloor fillers.

On a side note, we’d like to say a big thanks to the guys in the catering team here. Thanks for keeping us fed and watered in the heat!

Until next time

Spencer and The Rumour

We’re sitting in our field listening to dance music from Jim’s phone. Andy’s doing the decent and calling his wife. Josh is basking in the sun wearing his aviators. We’re pretty relaxed after our first gig at soul survivor north. It was a heady mix of soul, funk and good, old fashioned rock. We raced through our first set, taking 30 minutes instead of 50! The second set was much better, putting in a couple of killers tracks that livened up our disco-loving crowd. We’ve got another sound check later, where we’ll be filling the café with our Rumourtastic tasticness. Until then – we’ve got some serious lounging to do…

So we’ve made it to Soul Survivor!

All being well, we’ll be doing our first gig as resident band for Cafe Uno at 9.30pm – we’ve written the set list (best to keep things nice and smooth for the first night and have erected our tents in preparation for a decent nights sleep after the gig.

Keep tuned to www.therumour.org as we’re hoping to bring you pictures and maybe even some video of The Rumour on tour (or maybe The Rumour in a field!)

You’ve gotta love the power of the tinterweb! We’re in a field! And we’re on the internet!

Goodness knows why. I guess we’re all about the giving….
